Understanding Singapore Car Costs
What is COE?
Certificate of Entitlement (COE) is a quota license required to register, own, and use a vehicle in Singapore for 10 years. COEs are obtained through a bidding system held twice a month. Prices fluctuate based on supply (quota set by LTA) and demand. COE can cost from S$30,000 to over S$100,000 depending on category and market conditions.
ARF Calculation
- First S$20,000 of OMV: 100% (S$20,000)
- Next S$30,000 (S$20,001-S$50,000): 140%
- Above S$50,000: 180%
- Example: S$40,000 OMV = S$20,000 + (S$20,000 x 140%) = S$48,000 ARF
